Brothers Mimoun and Hamidou are immigrant workers. In 1964, tempted by the glossy brochures, they came to the promised land that was Belgium. They got jobs as miners, hoping to save a lot of money and then return home. But not everything plays out the way they had imagined.

Vooruit teamed up with organic farmers Wim and Maarten from CSA De Goedinge and Geert Dekleermaeker/VlotGent in an experiment. Using a solar-powered raft, the vegetables grown along the banks of the Leie River find their way into their kitchen.
As an arts institution, Vooruit is committed to supporting and fostering new initiatives, sharing experiences and discoveries generously with others, and actively contributing to the sustainability of our society. We continuously work towards a sustainable future, not only caring for artists, audiences, and staff, but also by promoting local and fair-trade products in our café and offering an artistic program that provides a platform for socially engaged artists. Furthermore, we strive to make our building future-proof.
Vooruit facilitates cross-pollination between the arts and the local and global community. We serve as a welcoming meeting place and a laboratory for development, production, presentation, participation, and reflection. Building upon a history of innovation and social engagement, Vooruit acts as a central platform within a rich network of artists and organizations from various sectors. Inspired by a turbulent world and a constantly evolving arts sector, we have a contemporary outlook on the future.

​Talking with Friends originated from the idea that everyone deserves a platform to share their story. In this documentary series, I give voice to my own friends, my mates. These friends come from diverse backgrounds and live somewhat outside the norm, yet they have found their place in society. The first episode features CeePil, a Gent-based artist and resident at DOK. He creatively works with animals, colors, and patterns, expressing his original creations through large-scale graffiti works. Special thanks to CeePil and everyone involved in making this documentary possible. Camera and editing by Yves Creten.

A classic story through a new virtual reality glasses
The story of Antigone - the girl who buries her politically incorrect brother against the will of the authorities - is over twenty-five centuries old and simultaneously more topical than ever. Starting from Antigone in Molenbeek - Stefan Hertmans' contemporary adaptation - theater director Guy Cassiers and Wim Forceville as main producer, turn the story into an immersive experience with VR glasses. Through direct visual communication, the viewer identifies with the girl and is confronted with the incomprehension and prejudices of a patriarchal society. For the viewer, this is not only a virtual, interactive, and intensely sensory experience, but also a call for empathy that poses complex moral questions.
As a co-producer I had to provide locations, actors, and all round production under the watchful and guiding eye of Wim Forcevill.
