Why The little black fish?
Let me explain!
The little Blackfish was born in a classroom in Middelkerke, where I grew up as the Belgian-born child of immigrant parents. I often felt different—and was often treated that way. After one tough incident of bullying, Sister Sarah, a kind teacher, gave me a special task: while the class painted their fish orange, I was asked to paint mine black.

Later, all the little fish were combined into one big fish. My black fish became the eye.

That moment taught me something powerful: being different isn’t a weakness—it’s vision. It’s the piece that helps the whole see clearly.
